Dimension radiation settings
Background and field radiation settings.
The entry ID is the dimension ID. For the Nether, use data/minecraft/hbm/radiation_settings/the_nether.json.
{"ambient_rad": 0.1}All seven fields are optional:
| Field | Meaning and default | Range |
|---|---|---|
diffusivity | Global field-diffusion rate; inherits the global setting, initially 10. | 0.000001–Double.MAX_VALUE |
half_life_seconds | Field decay half-life; inherits the global setting, initially 120 seconds. | 0.000001–Double.MAX_VALUE |
fog_rad | Radiation-fog threshold; inherits the global setting, initially 100. | 0–Double.MAX_VALUE |
fog_chance | Radiation-fog attempt interval parameter; inherits the global setting, initially 20. | 1–Double.MAX_VALUE |
world_rad_effects | Controls radiation world effects; inherits the global setting, initially true. | |
ambient_rad | Background radiation in rad/s; default 0. | 0–Double.MAX_VALUE |
diffusivity_transport | Chooses block-dependent transport; omission uses a nontrivial loaded mapping. |
An omitted diffusivity_transport enables that model only if a nontrivial diffusivity mapping loaded.
Background radiation is applied at exposure time and remains constant. An entity where the field is at or above zero takes whichever is higher, the field or the background. Absorbers can pull the field below zero, down to minus the background; there the entity takes the background minus that drain, reaching zero at the lowest point. Raw-field instruments show the field itself, including negative values.
