Quick start
Override an existing shredder recipe and verify the result.
This example overrides the existing apple shredder recipe so that one apple produces two sugar.
1. Create the pack
Create this folder structure:
apple-yield/
pack.mcmeta
data/
hbm/
recipe/
shredder/
shredder.apple.jsonPut this in pack.mcmeta:
{
"pack": {
"description": "NTM example: apples yield two sugar",
"min_format": [107, 1],
"max_format": [107, 1]
}
}Minecraft 26.2 uses data-pack format 107.1.
2. Override the recipe
Put this complete recipe in data/hbm/recipe/shredder/shredder.apple.json:
{
"type": "hbm:shredder",
"input_items": [
{
"ingredient": "minecraft:apple"
}
],
"order": 76,
"output_items": [
{
"id": "minecraft:sugar",
"count": 2
}
]
}The reviewed build produces one sugar. This example changes the output to two and retains the original input and ordering value.
The resource identifier is hbm:shredder/shredder.apple: namespace hbm, then the path relative to recipe/, without .json. Matching that identifier replaces the lower-priority file.
3. Install and enable it
For general pack installation, see the Minecraft Wiki installation guide. The steps below use this pack's path and ID.
- Singleplayer: place the
apple-yieldfolder insidesaves/<world>/datapacks/. - Dedicated server: place it inside the loaded world's
datapacks/directory, usually<level-name>/datapacks/. - ZIP: put
pack.mcmetaanddata/at the ZIP root.
With command permission, check the pack list:
/datapack listIf needed, enable the folder pack at the end of the enabled list so it has higher priority than the bundled data:
/datapack enable "file/apple-yield" lastUse the exact pack name shown by the command if yours differs. Then reload after editing the recipe:
/reload4. Check the outcome
Check the game/server log for the recipe identifier and load errors. Start a new operation in a powered shredder with an apple. The expected result is two sugar for one apple.
Use a test world while developing a pack. A recipe appearing in a recipe viewer establishes that it was indexed; running it in the machine establishes that the machine can actually use it.
